Leading real estate auction house reported to online ad watchdog

Barnard Marcus’ auction arm has been reported to the Advertising Standards Authority about an announcement posted on its website ahead of a public sale.

Legal requirements for real estate auction information and the lower volume of properties sold through them mean that while agents are regularly reported to the advertising watchdog, it is rare for an auction company to appear on the auction house. ASA Wandering Company Lists.

The only other real estate auction houses to have been reported in the past three years are SDL Auctions and Auction House, with the number of agents rising to over 300, including Purplebricks, which alone has been reported 11 times.

On this occasion, a citizen who saw an advertisement for a land on the Barnard Marcus website considered that it was misleading because it did not specify that the land was only accessible by crossing the land of others at foot or on a tractor and the information on the “permitted use” of the land was not accurate.

“We approached the advertiser and they assured us that the advertisement would be amended accordingly,” said an ASA spokesperson.

Barnard marcus Auctions, part of the Sequence group of companies, is one of the largest auction operators in the UK.
